About Us
We are the League City Intermediate robotics team. Our team name is Robcats. This is our About Page where we talk about our team. Here are some things you might want to know.
- We are called Robocats because our school's mascot is a bobcat.
- Our team number is 409
- The competition we are competing in is called B.E.S.T
- Our slogan is "One Gate To Rule Them All"
- We planned first so that we could be ready to build!
- We first went in to the major strategy teams such as CPU, IC, Gates, and strategy, Then we split in to the main parts of the robot such as Arm, Base, Programming, and Endeffector. Our final teams used the same Arm Base Programming and Endeffector, but we split in to sub-teams like website, our service project and many more.
- Programming programmed a lot of Html which they had to do themselves.
- Base strategized how to connect everything to it since its the core of the robot.
- We have drivers who stayed after school everyday overtime one week before the competition!
- We love engineering!
- We stayed after school to practice for the competition so no one was nervous on the actual day.
- For Spirit we made shakers where we re-use empty bottles and put things in there and shake so we can show our support during competition!
- Two of our chants are L-C-I-S Robocats (which is a parody of We will rock you) and who let the gates out (which is also a paradoy on who let the dogs out?)
- We have ten 6th and 7th graders and five 8th graders, which make a total of 25 team members
- Our fundraiser was to sell Hexbugs which are mini-robots!
- For our community service project we made pink ribbons for Breast Cancer Awareness where we held a Jeans day Friday to raise money.
- We went to Stewart Elementary to visit there lego team, and were amazed on how they thought very similarly to usOur presentation team consists of one person from every group, but since the limit is 8 people (2 alternatives) we got people who went to two or more teams.
